Used to be a kid was only promised a schollie on a yearly basis. Coaches would
routinely pull scholarships from scrubs all the time and nobody cared cause they were scrubs on the bench.
About a decade or so ago the press made a big deal out of this practice in the press and most conferences moved to mandate that scholarships be guaranteed for 4 years going forward.
