Getting desperate for suggestions. I'm in some crazy back/sciatic pain right now and not sure what to do. I know this is
a horrible time to post this but I'm lying here awake for the third night in a row and getting desperate.

Back story: Monday morning I went for my normal walk. My back was a bit stiff but I have regular sciatic pain and usually as I move it gets better. But something happened, I don't have a clue what, since I was just walking, and suddenly my back left hip/butt area was in a lot of pain.

I wasn't too far from home so I turned around and walked home. I got home and looked up some stretches that seemed to help a bit. Then I got ready for work. I work from home and if I favored my right side, as i was sitting, I was able to work from my desk. There was pain but if I didn't move too much it was manageable. However, when I got done with work I was a lot stiffer and there was a lot more pain.

I was only able to get two to three hours of sleep that night. The next day my wife gave me some steroid pills from a steroid pack she had left over from something her Dr had prescribed for her a couple months back that she never finished. That seemed to help a bit at first and I was able to make it through another day at work.

Last night, however, the pain got worse again and I only got a couple hours of sleep. I can't lay on my left side at all and now even laying on my right side is very painful.

I took the day off work yesterday and went to a chiropractor. All they did was do some scans, did a quick adjustment, and scheduled me for an appointment for this morning. The adjustment they did didn't seem to do anything.

Honestly, the amount of pain I'm in right now is not livable. I've never had pain like this before where I can't find a position to be comfortable. On my right side it's less painful but I would still rate it a 5 or 6 at best. If I tried to roll to my left side it would be off the charts.

I've tried some different stretches, cold and heat packs and nothing is making a difference. I'm hoping the chiropractic visit I have later will help but I'm not feeling very optimistic at this point. And if it does it'll probably take several visits to start to be noticeable. And I can't keep working with this amount of pain.

I've considered an ER visit tonight but not sure what they could do and I really don't want to go there and sit forever not to get any relief.

If I tried to get into my pcp I'm guessing they'd refer me maybe for PT? I'm not sure.

Sorry, it's taken a long time to get to this point. But does anyone have any suggestions on who I might try to get into where I might be able to get some relief? What type of doctor might be able to help? I've been fairly fortunate where I mostly only use doctors for annual checkups.

Again, the pain starts in my lower back and shoots down through my butt into my leg and foot.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
