So it looks like CVS made a $10 million commitment to the American Diabetes
Association. But instead of paying it themselves, they put an option on the checkout kiosks for customers to make a donation to ADA, without telling customers that it would go towards the contract that CVS was already legally obligated to pay the organization.
Pretty scummy.

I was wrong here. According to tax policy you can't count at the register donations as income. Now, you can still (CSoul, Dec 8, 2022 at 8:47pm)
Go ahead and donate to charity at cash registers. The business gets no cash or tax advantage out of it (TCuz, Dec 8, 2022 at 7:59pm)

I never donate at store card readers because it's companies double dipping. They get a charitable contribution
