This is kind of interesting. Zillow- the company that likes to tell everybody how much their house is worth- bought a
home in Sacramento back in November 2021 for $700k. At some point last year, Zillow put the home on the market, but it didn’t sell. They finally canceled the listing after 4 months. The last asking price was around $625k.

Zillow then sold the home to OpenDoor for $354k. OpenDoor took 3 months to do some work on the home and just recently listed it for sale at $632k, and it’s now pending sale.

The moral of the story is that Zillow doesn’t know the market as well as they want people to believe. And that it can pay to spend some money on a facelift on a property before selling it.
