The Church's website is a bad example. They wanted to make it soooo cool with "modern" dashboard and personalized content.... BUT then they have to put up a banner that says "We know that LCR has not been what is expected".... I would much rather have a solid LCR that I can log in and do my calling, and live without the cool icon with my picture and personalized content.

Same for soooo many other site. SOLID functionality should be the expectation, and if and only if it's solid on the basics should you start doing all that crazy fancy stuff.

Smith food and drug is another.

Some websites went for simple but solid. RealClearPolitics is pretty "boring" display ways, BUT has great content and solid delivery and works all the time.

Some websites went for glitz and glam and don't work really well.

This is especially true I think for Ad Servers... UGH, so many times with a little message in the bottom of the screen "waiting for adserver.xyz.com to load"!!!
