Granted Ted was coming from a position of power being head coach and all whereas Nate has no power.

It seems like Ted supported Nate’s various ideas throughout the series which helped build his self esteem.

Was Nate supportive to Ted as he was going through his mental health crisis? I can’t remember.

The help that I recall Ted getting a little support from Beard as well as the therapists lady ( Sharon? )
