There is a good map that has both loops and highlights of the park.
I will try to find a link.
Off the top of my head, here are things you should stop and see, but first think about how many days you want to spend. I think 4 is a pretty good number unless you want to do some good hikes, then a day or two more, but with a young child maybe not.
Firehole river. If it is open, it is a blast with kids. Bring floatie things.
Fishing Bridge
Hayden Valley. You can spend half a day easily in this area viewing wildlife usually.
LaMar Valley
GrandCanyon
Old Faithful - you need to see this at least once IMO
Decide if you are going to do any fishing or hiking.
