Connor was encouraged to move on before Seneca was brought in — & it was because he had AB, SJ, GG & Knell clearly ahead of him. Pope, like a lot of HCs out there doesn't want to keep on a kid several years in the program as a rotation player — who he intends to remove from the rotation the upcoming season. He's of course gonna encourage that kid to take his talents elsewhere.
Seneca was a very late Portal pickup who we took after several of our other options fell through. Pope woulda probably taken any number of talented-enough players at that point, regardless of position. But Knight's physique & versatility made him a no-brainer given our roster at the time. Unlike Harding, he could give you some stretches on D at the 4.
We were of course hopeful he could be a scorer for us, too — better than he ended up being.
