I don't believe Club sports have hurt Rec sports at all.
Club sports gives opportunity to kids that want to pursue their sport more seriously. Rec sports gives opportunity to kids who want to do multiple sports and do them with their friends.
IMO, Video games are what is hurting youth sports more than anything.
