We ad chickens at our house 10 years ago, but since we moved to CO, our HOA doesn't allow them in our backyard. But, I have a commercial lot that I could put chickens at. I could probably do a 10x10 coop for them.
We used to let our chickens run around the yard in AZ for a few hours every day and we'd lock them up at night. But, I couldn't really do that where I'm at now. Too many foxes, bears, eagles, etc. that would take them out 1 by 1. They'd pretty much need to be closed up 24 hours a day.
Questions...how many chickens could I put in a 10x10 coop?
Can they survive and produce eggs if being locked up 24/7, or do they need to be able to run around?
In winter (snow and negative temps), do they have to be inside and heated? What temps can they handle?
