Halo really improved on the joystick mechanics to move/rotate/aim/etc., and virtually every first-person game since has followed suit. It's near impossible to go back and play the N64 version with the old controller mechanics. I tried it with a few friends who had become accustomed to new first-person games and it was near unplayable.
