-A linebacker from a very prominent BYU family - think past star and future star prospect - has left the team. He had not earned any meaningful reps in two seasons on the team and with the changes to BYU's defensive scheme moving forward (less linebackers), was likely going to struggle to break into the two deep. Cougarboard will react as they will but don't overreact. This doesn't change the prospect of landing his highly papered younger brother (spoiler - he's not coming).

-There is growing focus regarding depth in the WR room. Beyond the anointed three, there is absolutely no depth and no incoming scholarship players that move the needle going into the Big 12. Fesi has cast a wide net and has connected with and offered some interesting prospects but as has been alluded to over the past few weeks, one of the challenges is scholarships. The WR room is over-extended on scholarships (particularly scholarships of players who may not have the skillset to compete in the Big 12). Most every WR that BYU is recruiting right now is through the PWO lens which is ironic since Fesi/ARod do not have a history of PWO WRs breaking into their 2 deep. Slovis in his first week working out with WRs even commented about the depth at WR.

-Although Criddle and others are still carrying on the hope that McChesney is going to finally have that breakout season, he is done. Awesome athlete. Awesome kid. Did everything he was ever asked to do - compete and make plays when the given the opportunities.

- Depth at TE takes a hit with Wheat moving on from football as well. Another solid athlete. Great size. Perfect TE frame. Gave his body to the grind for many years.
