Stewart's foul at end of 1st half was huge...
The ball had already been released and ended up missing with BYU securing the rebound and a chance to push the ball up there court for another transition bucket that could have put them up by 5 going into half time, or left them with a 3 point lead at worst, but no. Instead Stewart jumped out of control, landing on the SMC shooter after he released the ball giving way to three free throws. And unlike BYU, SMC has guys who know how to shoot free throws. And yep, he swished 3 in a row to tie the game up going into half time.

That and Hall not ever being able to hit even two in a row when he gets to the line which proved extra costly down the stretch with the two times he was at the line in the final few minutes were the pivotal moments of the game aside from the suspensions. I honestly don't know that BYU missed those guys that much though since they did really well in rebounding and defense without them and those guys can be pretty turnover prone themselves.

Anyway, I don't know what BYU coaching and players can do collectively to get the free throw percentages up, but if they can somehow do that along with figuring out how to control the ball better so they're not turning it over so much, they'd be a really good team. Hope they can sort that out this upcoming off-season.

Also, I'd like to see a rule change where free throws are only awarded when a foul occurs before ball is released since that obviously affects shot. If contact is not made until after ball is released, still call the foul but inbound the ball like any other foul with a fresh shot clock.
