Google Homes are designed to play Google/YT Music. They don't play well with

other providers, by design. They're trying to get you to pay for Google/YouTube Music. And some features only work if you have the paid version.

Amazon Echos are like this too, with Amazon Music, although I had a good experience with Spotify on my Echos.
