In states not considered deserts. Like enough to feed the whole country and more.
Agriculture in Utah isn’t about producing enough food for Utah. It’s just a part of the economy that would be lost without the water, and a lot of people’s livelihood. But the water is becoming more valuable than this small portion of Utahs economy. These farms will have to be paid for their water rights and loss of their farm value, probably considering the water eminent domain. It’s an ugly legal battle.
I’m happy to live on the other half of the continental divide, the side with water.
