It's a super fun discussion. The heart of it is that
BYU fans keep trying to compare Utah to SEC and BIG powerhouses, trying to diminish any thought of being a nationally recognized team.
Utah is a mid-tier school, not even in the same league as blue bloods. But blue bloods are not options for Big 12 expansion.
The Big 12 doesn't need to expand. If they do, it's most likely to improve their competitiveness compared to the P2 and to the other 3. The main goal would be distance itself from the P12.
Outside UW and Oregon, no one moves the needle in that regard except Utah.
