I think it’s for the sports that don’t bring in a revenue

Having a travel partner allows someone to visit both schools on an “away trip” and cut down costs.

For example, if BYU and Utah joined the big 10, and Michigan state girls soccer came out to play byu, the schedule would have them play Utah maybe a couple of days later or something. Then you kill two birds with one stone.
