Goal is UVA, then yes, highly recommend. But between the need to transport to other schools (at least ours didn’t cover all the gov programs, so kids are bussed to other schools) which can limit ability for extra curriculars, and the fact that you can’t pick and choose your classes based off strengths or weaknesses, makes the program risky for admissions.
We’ve been selective on what AP classes vs regular classes kids should take based off their strengths. Our current junior is in Calc, AP Stat, AP Econ and AP Chem but regular English. Our daughter who’s in BYU took nearly all the AP science classes she could take but regular US History and regular Econ. You lose a bit of that flexibility with Gov school.
