Absolutely. BYU had finished higher in the AP poll in the previous 2 years
and also had more NCAA tournament wins between the two previous seasons. Back that up to three years, even five years, prior to BYU’s entrance and the two programs were still on almost exactly equal footing… with BYU holding a slide edge due to a longer history of sustained success. The two schools’ trajectories have changed remarkably since 2012.
