Who is more likely to live to 100, a newborn or a 99 year old? I think it helps
to see it in this light. Obviously from a population standpoint, the 99 year old is more likely to live 1 more year than the newborn is to live 100 more years.

It then seems logical that any older person (assuming no known health issues) is likely to live longer than any younger person (also, with no known health issues), although as the ages get closer together, the life expectancy difference becomes minimal.
