They’ve gotten to the Sweet 16 eight times in a row. But four of those times
they were the #1 seed, and another time they were a #2 seed. Are we really getting excited about winning a game against a #16 and then against a #8 seed?
The consistency is nice, but they rarely do much from there when they have to play legitimately good teams.
They’ve gotten to the Final Four twice, which is ok. But with all their high seeds, I’m not sure how impressed I should be.
Once with a #1 seed they lost in the Sweet 16 and another time with the #1 seed they lost in the Round of 32. Yikes.
Long ago they were a cute little story that was fun to root for, but those days are over. They keep getting so much praise, and while some of it deserved, some of it is for what people wish Gonzaga actually were (but hasn’t become).
