Don’t think that is how it works
Especially when you have teams turning down the NIT. Pretty sure NIT is based solely on NET rankings. Which is why the 8th place team in the PAC 12 got in with a worse record than both Utah and BYU.
To be fair, 3 out of 229 of the bracket predictors did have UNM in their bracket so I guess that could be considered the bubble.
