comes to a tv deal.
Squabbling over $5M/year in a tv deal isn't going to make or break the conference. These universities aren't like BYU where the AD is entirely self funded and every dollar counts. They all get nice incomes from the universities/students to fund their programs.
What I would be more worried about is exposure like BYU was during the indy years. BYU took less money from ESPN to ensure they had good exposure on their networks. Being on the west coast, they are already in bad spot when it comes to tv viewer time slots. If they got relegated to a streaming platform, nobody outside of their fanbases will see those teams.
Recruits won't see them, casual fans won't see them, voters won't see them, advertisers won't see them, etc.
While not having equal money is a black eye to the conference. Not being on mainstream media will have a far bigger impact.
