That was, hands down, the weirdest movie I’ve ever seen. I don’t watch many movies so I’m sure there are weirder movies out there.
I’ve never tripped on acid but if I did, I imagine that’s what it would be like. It felt like I was watching a Tim Burton movie if he wrote and directed it while on LSD. If Weird Al or Hulk Hogan had showed up in it halfway through the movie, it wouldn’t have been any crazier and I would have thought, “Yeah, that feels right.”
Not sure how that won best picture unless they awarded it because it was so unique and they’d likely never seen anything like it, especially with some notable actors.
There were some ok parts, funny parts, but if it hadn’t won best picture I would have probably either never watched it or just shut off half way through. In the end, it felt like a waste of 2.5 hours of my life. Maybe there was some deep, existential message I was supposed to get other than family is important.
As far as acting, yeah, Ke Huy Quan and Michelle Yeo were incredible and Jamie Lee Curtis was solid.
Just due to weirdness and being too long, I’d give it a C.
