Worst black ice I've ever driven on, last night at 9 pm, on 900 East from BYU Music Building up to the MTC/Provo temple
Basically bumper cars. Lots of traffic, lots of stupid drivers, pedestrians who didn't know that cars couldn't stop, cars hitting the curb hard and then sliding back into the other lane, police cars waving two solid lanes of traffic to merge to the right so they could get through. I looked at the second or third police car and gave the officer a huge shrug because I and everyone around me had zero control. He finally gave up and tried to stay in his lane like everyone else.
The double stake center by the BYU laundry had an event finishing up, and a ton of foolish young people came zooming out of that (probably well salted) parking lot like they were Starsky and Hutch or something. The one that came in front of me probably thought I was inviting him in because I was progressing so slowly (in reality, I was trying to return my steering to some sort of function so that I could play defense against the dozens of hazards that surrounded us). Dude slid across 4 lanes of traffic, bounced off the opposite curb, and crunched a car that couldn't stop.
I personally witnessed or heard about 7 small collisions, and the evidence is that there were 2 or 3 major ones just in the time my family and I were trying to get off that dang road. By the grace of God my car and my family and I made it through unscathed.
