Its popularity threatened it. Its success demanded more attention from our ADept
The more successful women sports are already fighting tooth-n-nail for all the meager resources & attention left over from men's FB & BB.
To have three major mens sports at BYU would be bad for the top women's programs. Particularly over the long haul. BYU would LOVE for another womens program to step in the limelight like woman's VB. Gynastics is doing commendably well, but really isn't a spectators sport. Hopefully ladies Bball can come along here under Whiting.

There was no “plug pulled” due to rising popularity. This is such an ignorant assumption and conclusion.
