in walked this family, not one of them less than 250 pounds, and they sat down a couple of rows in front of us. Or a least they tried.
The armrests were fixed in the theater, they didn’t go up. And they were slightly more narrow than a typical movie theater. Everyone squeezed into their seats but the mom, who was probably 5’5”, 350lbs, couldn’t fit between the armrests, could not sit in the chair. She tried grabbing her huge fat rolls and pulling them up to make herself more narrow. Didn’t work. Tried shimmying back and forth to work her way in. Nothing. At last she literally tried jumping up and landing between the armrests to force her way in. We just watched in horror. The whole theater did. She was in front and it was quite the spectacle as we all waited. In the end the lady managed to sit sideways on the edge of her chair. Probably only had one cheek was resting on the chair the whole show.
I felt terrible for her. I sat there wondering if the theatre should have made bigger seats. She was the only one, out of a sold-out 1000 seat theater, that couldn’t fit.
