In Texas this would violate UIL rules and could put the team under risk of sanct

or probation

No volunteer coaches allowed with the singular exception of retired full-time school district employees. All coaches are required to be full-time school district employees. No volunteer or private coaches allowed on the field of play, or at official practices held on school property.

It's pretty strict
