Looking at a used bat for my soon-to-be 13 yo
I'm thinking used is the way to go since he'll likely use the bat for 2 years. Needs to be USSSA approved and drop 5 or less. What are the best brand/models?

as a kid I always wanted a deMarini or Marucci. They still the top of the game?

Yep. Marucci is better for one piece, but I’ve always liked Demarini two pieces

The two posts above are right. Be aware a lot of 14U leagues require BBCOR.

Get him a drop 3 so he can get used to swinging it.

While I agree on concept why rob a kid of the weight. If you don't plan to keep

I go drop 10 for 11U, -8 for 12U, -5 for 13U, and -3 for 14U.

Check your league rules. 14u requires BBCOR most of the time, rather than USSSA

which is a good reason to buy used. I like to usually buy used anyway

Depends on if he’s more of a power or contact guy. Love the CF if he’s a power

Marucci CAT8 -5 was a good transition bat for my son

My 12 year old (he’s 5’8” and 190 lbs) uses a Louisville Slugger Meta -5

Sideline Swap is where I buy used bats. Generally you can get a warranty bat in the wrapper, as parents don't want to
