The WRs his Frosh year were quite mediocre. The most talented one was Juergens,
but he was small & hurt quite a bit.
Matthews had a great combination of size & speed, but was very limited skill-wise. Which is why the NFL wasn't interested despite what appeared great NFL measurables. Who besides Houk is even mentionable after that? (And don't say Blackmon!)
Tanner Mangum's Frosh numbers speak for themselves. As to what happened to him as an upperclassman, I'm just not sure. But he himself said it was mental illness — which I take to mean something pretty severe. So good for him for keeping it together & finishing school — & even sticking w the team.
PS. I'm sorry I slighted Devon there. His stepping up after Juergen's injury saved our season big time.
