Final thoughts on Ted Lasso: (spoilers)
I know many here weren't happy with the final season or even the last two seasons, but I thought they were important to show the Ted Lasso effect. Season 1 was triumphant because it showed a man who came from America to jaded England and won over some people with his brand of kindness, respect, and dignity for all. But there was only one character arc in the first season, and that was Rebecca's transformation from a woman completely broken and embittered by her ex husband into a woman who no longer needed to hurt people around her for revenge. She was still a broken woman.

But season 1 barely even addressed why Ted had chosen to come all the way from Kansas to England other than to give his wife space. He could have moved to another town, another house in the neighborhood, another state in the USA. Why would this man who is all about love and kindness move halfway around the world? Away from his son? To show that, the series had to dig deeper, which was what we got in season 2. Season 2 was Ted's arc.

And season 3 showed us the full Ted Lasso effect. What happens when you consistently treat the people around you the way you think they can be instead of reacting to the way they are. I think season 3 was important in that regard. We saw how Rebecca changed into a woman no longer defined by the need to one up her ex. Keely grew into a woman no longer defined by her relationships. Jamie Tartt learned to motivate himself with his love for his team instead of his hate for his dad. Roy Kent learned to open up to other people and share parts of himself. Nate, who thought he despised Ted, learned he really admired the man and actually always resented himself because he believed his parents were disappointed in him, when, in fact, they were not. Coach Beard finally stepped out of Ted's shadow and began living for himself again. Season 3 cast a wider net to show the impact one person can have on a community. It was never about soccer. It was always about how much good one person can be in their circle of influence. And I think the show was successful despite its flaws. I don't think there needs to be any future seasons to demonstrate that.

As for how to read into the final moments of the show, I don't know if Ted and Michelle got back together. I don't think their marriage counselor was predatory like some here have posted. I think Michelle may have been drawn to him after her divorce and then realized he wasn't a great fit after all. But I think it's possible Ted and Michelle reconciled. They certainly have a healthy relationship. I'm grateful for this show because in a day where shows like Breaking Bad, Succession, and Barry are the "cream of the crop" it's wonderful to have a show all about making the world a better place through our small ways instead of glorifying the darkness.
