Average margin of victory in basketball is very small compared to the total number of points scored. So small advantages of playing at home (fans, travel, influence on refs, altitude, distractions) have an outsized effect on the NBA. Hockey and Baseball have high degrees of randomness baked in as compared to basketball, and fewer scoring events.
