The lower Provo River is at capacity, and managers are going to release more water out of Deer Creek Res. next week.
A month ago managers were trying to make sure they could fill both Deer Creek and Jordanelle without incurring flooding. So, releases from the dams were significant, but well below capacity. Now, both reservoirs are nearing capacity and managers are scrambling trying to get more water out of Deer Creek because there’s still a lot of snow in the Uintas.

If you’re going to make a mistake managing all this runoff, it’s better to err by missing reservoir capacity by a few percentage points than by holding water back until it’s too late to avoid flooding.

I took the picture below just this morning. I was looking across the River towards the tube rental facility at Vivian Park. There were ducks swimming around in the overflow area. KSL just said flows will be increased by 300 cfs next week. Good luck with that.😳
