moved back to Utah because my MIL was aging. Many people said, “I’ll bet you’re glad to be gone from there.” They were usually surprised when I replied that I like it in Utah but we didn’t move to leave where we were.
We actually lived in Henderson as well. Less than half a mile from the Las Vegas city limits.
Yes you have the gaming and the smut. But it’s very easy to find other things and avoid that if you want to.
One thing we noticed is that in Utah youth in the church seem to fall along a bell curve in terms of how they turn out in the gospel. In the Las Vegas área more tend to fall at either end of the spectrum. There isn’t as much gray.
The church is strong and it feels like a half way between Utah and somewhere east of Colorado in terms of church life. Nearly everyone in Las Vegas knows church members and something about the church.
I’m very happy where I am and sometimes I’ve missed the Las Vegas area at the same time.
They now have pro hockey and the NFL. And it looks like they’ll have MLB soon too. Those would be pluses for me.
