I need a new vehicle by August when school starts since our oldest is leaving for college with my old vehicle and our newly licensed 16 year old will be driving/chauffering soon (my current car). I'll mostly use it for commuting to/from work (~20 miles each way) and not planning on using it for longer trips until some later date. I am looking for an economic deal.

I've seen a good amount of chatter in the past, and feel like Tesla is the way to go. It will be our first EV. I understand I'll need a home charger upgrade.

I guess my questions are the following:

1. What is the turnaround for ordering and getting the car now?
2. What features would you say are absolutely the way to go for our type of scenario?
