First off, from what I’ve been told, coaches see Etienne as a raw talent with NFL potential. He never had good coaching prior to a year at Ok St. so coaches think he has a ton of room to grow.
The dude is 6’8” and 335 lbs - an absolute mountain. And he’s a Junior.
Coaches know he’s struggled, and they know they can’t play him if he’s gonna cost us wins. They played him against SHSU and SUU to give him experience and help him grow. And they went into the Arkansas game with the plan to give him a try and then pull him if he didn’t perform (he didn’t play most of the second half).
Many CBers need a whipping boy, for whatever reason, and it seems Etienne is the low-hanging fruit this year.
Personally, I’m pulling for the kid and hope he can still develop into a quality tackle for us by this time next year.
