Reading some of the posts, it seems there is a whiff of trembling and fretting over which BYU team will show up. I suspect it will be the team that finished the season with a #2 RPI, with the nation’s second highest goals per game, and a very high goal differential. Were there some stumbles? Of course. But remember that NC needs to be asking itself which NC will show up. Will it be the NC team that couldn’t muster a winning conference record (5-0-5), that couldn’t beat three teams that failed to make the tournament, that has an away record (according to the NCAA stats) of 3-0-5, that is not in the top 50 in goals/game (Okay, they’re 51)?
BYU is having a tremendous season and is loaded with talent. NC is also talent rich. Both teams can justifiably be proud of making the Elite Eight. The reality is that both teams will need the best versions of themselves to show up in order to win.
