UNC 2nd goal … offside?
target offensive player is in the goalie box - clearly affecting the play - as the shot is taken. She is clearly offside.
I would love an explanation as to why the flag didn’t go up

She is in an offside position but in the opinion of the referee she did not get involved with active play.

I’ve never seen 2 offensive players offside that close to the goal and it not be called.

she doesn’t have to touch the ball, she has to affect play.

That what I said but I'll be sure to take your thoughts into consideration...

True, but I don't think she really affected it. Hernaez was pretty far

Certainly a judgment call. I’ve never seen a player running toward the goal in the goalie box and it not be called

Thats a fair point but a different situation.

Rewatch it. I'd hardly call what she did standing off to the side. She's literally running across the face of the goal

I linked the video. If the goal is shot and scored right behind her, how is she not in the play?

Cause she isn't playing the ball or affecting how others play the ball.

A player running across the face of the goal isn't effecting how others are playing the ball?

Not when the ball is completely out of reach no.

She was there, you can't argue that is she wasn't there we would have done nothing different. The fact that she is

LOL. She was there, but she didn't affect the play at all.

Clearly a judgment call and it could have gone either way. She runs within 5 feet of the goalie and across the play.
