reporters informed him of Payton's comments. Basically, we'll see once the actual cuts are made.
Payton has made clear indications that he "sees" all 3 making it, but has stopped short of actually saying all 3 will be on the 53-man.
Put another way, Payton's comments on Zach the last two weeks are identical to what a coach's comments would be if he were looking to maximize the trade value of a player. Indicating that he sees Zach on the 53-man rather than being cut is consistent with that strategy.
My view is the Broncos are fully open to listening to any offers other teams might make for Zach, and they should be. His value to the Broncos diminishes as the season goes on and he gets closer to being a free agent. His future in Denver is limited the more that Nix plays well. If the Broncos can get something of value for Zach, they would be smart to take it.
But, if they don't receive an offer they like and given that Zach's contract is guaranteed, they might as well use that money to keep Zach as their QB3 rather than paying Zach to be on another team (which will surely happen if they cut him). One way or another, I see Zach on a 53-man roster tomorrow.
