1. We have a clear-cut top three. Jenna Hutchins, Lexy Halladay, and Riley Chamberlain finished within 2/10 of a second of each other and were 12 seconds ahead of the next finisher. These three gals have the potential to be top 25 finishers at NCAAs.
2. A freshman emerges! With eight true freshmen on the roster it is tough to know who was going to emerge especially as none of them were home run recruits. Nelah Roberts, a true freshman from Idaho, finished in 4th place ahead of many veteran teammates. This could bode well for future teams if she continues her progression.
3. A battle is brewing. Who will be on the travel squad? Who will be in the top 10? Lots of depth means there are a lot of options.
Newly-minted All-American Steeplechaser, Taylor Lovell, proves she has taken a step forward in cross-country with a 6th place finish. Carmen Alder seems to be coming back from injury well with a 7th place finish. Grace Hutchison flashed some of her potential with a surprising 9th place finish. Senior Anastaysia Davis shows she shouldn’t be discounted with a 10th place finish.
And potential top 7 runners Carlee Hansen, Taylor Rohatinsky, Jacey Farmer, and Carmen Riano Aransay didn’t even run.
All in all this was a great showing for the BYU Women.
