My 8th grader's 1st year of tackle football has not gone well for him
Very first play in the first game on the kickoff he took a helmet directly to the knee. Couldn't play for a few weeks. Finally gets better and is able to play and does pretty well. Next Monday at school during PE he was standing off to the side during flag football and when the ball was thrown 2 kids, 1 of them very large for an 8th grader landed on my son and his ankle got trapped going the opposite way. Xrays showed nothing broken, but severe sprain and Doc said he's lucky he didn't need surgery. He's in a walking boot and his season is over. He's only been able to play in 1 game because of his injuries and he's had a really hard time dealing with that.

I've felt really bad for him. It doesn't help that his team is terrible and him standing on the sidelines wearing his jersey, supporting his team but not being able to play is ripping him up inside.
