-They have a better front office
-They have a better analytics staff
-They are better at identifying cheap diamonds in the rough to round out the roster
-They are better at trades and pulling the trigger when needed
-They are better at drafting
-They are better at developing pitchers out of nothing
-They are more willing to spend
-They are a more attractive location to Japanese players (maybe balanced by the east coast being more attractive for Dominicans)
All around a better run franchise and a better baseball team.
The Dodgers have kept a window open for 10+ years now. The Yankees’ window isn’t closed, but every year puts Judge and Cole deeper into their mid 30s, and it’s a miracle they got anything out of Stanton at all at his age.
Oh well. Judge comes out a huge loser and we will never get to talk about Ohtani having a dumpster fire of a series (pre and post injury) because all that matters is he’s a champion now. One team was able to overcome it like it didn’t matter, the other crumbled into a pile of dust.
