With Retzlaff this year there were good things and there were bad things. How is that so hard for everyone to see?
Fact: Retzlaff led the team to 11-2 and the two we lost he was likely not anywhere near 100% healthy
Fact: Retzlaff was awful in the bowl game and generally was worse as the season went along
Fact: Retzlaff is a good leader that the team seems to rally around
Fact: Retzlaff's throwing motion will make it extremely difficult if not impossible to be one of the most accurate QBs out there
Fact: Retzlaff throws the deep out as well as any college QB that I can remember
Fact: Retzlaff throws the fade or any throw that requires touch worse than any college QB that I can remember
Fact: Retzlaff improved greatly from last year
Fact: Retzlaff's overall passer rating was average at best, probably just below average as far as NCAA QBs are concerned
Fact: The defense and special teams were rated higher than the offense was this past year
Fact: The offense was still good finishing around #35 overall in important metrics (like points per drive or FEI).
Now everyone can take all of these facts and come to their own conclusion on how to proceed. But even most people who were not happy with his play want them to bring in someone to compete with hm for the job. And certainly there are plenty of folks on CB on both sides of the aisle. Some think Retzlaff will continue to improve and are excited for him. Others think that because of his post high school experience and throwing motion that we have seen the best from him. But posting things like "Everybody wants him gone" or "Retzlaff didn't improve from last year" is just silly. Now your opinion based on the facts is fun to hear, but don't just make stuff up to fit your narrative.
