BYU has arranged to take over a cruise ship, so this cruise will be all BYU fans! They've already
announced several coaches and well known alumni who will be on the cruise — legends like Jamal Willis, Jimmer Fredette, Jim McMahon, both Tyler & TJ Haws, Max Hall, Dennis Pitta, Derwin Gray, Austin Collie, and many more, along with several coaches including Kalani Sitake, Jay Hill, Jen Rockwood, and Heather Olmstead.
Some current BYU athletes are also coming, including
Jake Retzlaff and
Isaiah Glasker, as well as the cheer team.
I'll be there too, but that's probably a negative for some (most?) on here. 😃 They've agreed to let us do a couple meetups for anyone who wants to meet some of the people they only know online.
They've also announced
some of the entertainment they've booked so far.
As of the end of January, the cruise ship is currently about 90% sold out, so while there’s still some room, there's not a lot of room left.
It's a little on the pricey side for a week-long Royal Caribbean cruise, but it's not too bad. It's the
Navigator of the Seas, which has a waterslide, aqua coaster, splash pads, Flowrider, laser tag, and ice skating.
They say there will be
"themed events, behind-the-scenes stories, panel chats, Q&As, X’s and O’s, meet & greets, photo opportunities, and so much more!" They’ll even have some
mini sports camps.
So if you ever wanted to go on a cruise with people who you have a little more in common with, this should be a lot of fun. It's April 11-18, 2025, and sails out of Los Angeles, with stops in Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallarta.
