Back from the Marriott center after getting out played at home
A very good team played quite a bit better than we did tonight. They were more physical, took better care of the ball, and hit us with a defensive scheme that was much more effective than ours.

— Intro with the blue foam light sabers they handed out was super cool. Fans want to explode. We could not stack stops together and really build momentum.

—Spend a lot of money on season tickets for great seats, and you have earned the right not to be griped at to some extent. But too many of these seats were empty, which I don’t understand. More understandable but more annoying were a not insignificant number of good seats occupied by U of A fans tonight.

— Wildcats’ tall stretch 5 was a nightmare matchup for us. Completely outplayed Fouss. Guys like this are simply a problem for our team.

— U of A outshot us in all three phases on our own floor. We are not winning games in this league when that happens.

—We’re not a serious basketball team if we’re going to shoot below 60% from the free-throw line at home in big games. Or any game really

—Mag continues to be a player half the team should emulate. He rose from the bottom of the bench by doing things well which the team was lacking that didn’t necessarily involve scoring. Forced his way onto the floor and capitalized. There are those we need to learn from his example.

—Welcome to being circled on the scouting report, Richie Saunders. They hounded him all night. Still pretty solid game from him.

—Opposition gets favorable matchups off of forcing us to switch on screens way too easily.

—There’s no lack of effort, but the opposition deliberately goes after Knell and Baker when we are on the defensive end. They have to be producing with their offense to offset this

—We need better ways to get the ball in from underneath our own basket than lobbing it 20 feet in the air out to Keita at the three-point line and hoping he doesn’t turn it over. OOB plays seem quite feckless.

—Hall and Demin combined to do some things well tonight. Egor needs to be much more careful with the ball at times. And three consecutive missed free throws – – yikes

—I rather liked the rotations for the most part. Maybe a player or two I’d like to see more, but they have to make themselves indispensable

—We absolutely must—via scheme, sets, personnel, fundamentals or any other means— play through pressure and contact better. Arizona was all over us, and yet we could not draw fouls or run our offense cleanly. Tall, bald ref is a guy I’d rather not see ever again in our games, but we were beside ourselves over the officiating in Florida for the same reasons. If the answer is not solely for our fans to whine about it as it happens every game, the actual team is going to have to respond (much) better. The word is out on how to play BYU. Our move.

Just got put away comfortably on our home floor. Need to improve.Win the next two and it’s forgiven. Tall order though.
