stretch it out to its fullest and snap it against the side of my neck. That was first period. Seven hours later, there was still a raised welt on my neck that my mom saw immediately. My offense was before class in the hall, I was playfully snapping the same rubber band against my friend's down jacket, because it made a cool popping sound. The teacher grabbed it out of my hand and said, "how would you like it if I did that to you?"

That same teacher became Dean of the middle school and got busted for putting kids in a locked closet with nothing but a light bulb for entire school days at a time.
