What's perhaps the worst part of the The Michelle's infamous letter (apart from the Jimmer blasphemy)? The embarrassment it causes the University, and by extension, the Church.

By all accounts, the woman was serious in her public opinion. However, any objective person outside the "bubble" would consider her opinion to be ludicrous in the extreme, if not wholly fanciful. The thought that a school's excitement for its All-American basketball player is sinful "idol worship" is utter nonsense, something you might expect from the FLDS or fundamentalists who live in bunkers. Now that it has gone viral, I shudder to think that others who are not familiar with BYU might transpose her opinions into the BYU/LDS population in general.

I don't want to make this too serious, but as a BYU graduate living outside Utah, I am actually embarrassed.
