Arena Size is Not a Big Issue
The caliber of competition is the biggest issue. As long as the competition is good it's not a problem. I see most WCC schools making significant efforts in this area. With improving competition, increasing arena sizes, and coverage of almost all games on ESPN or BYUtv, I belief the WCC can be a good home for BYU basketball for years to come.

If the WCC can get to the point where they consistently get 3 teams, and occasionally 4, into the NCAA tournament, if BYU can consistently play a good OOC slate of games, and if TV coverage stays at least as good as it is now, I don't see the WCC negatively impacting recruiting either. TV exposure, success in the post-season, and getting players to the NBA are the things that will woo recruits (along with BYU's "uniqueness" for LDS church members).

Frankly, if Gonzaga is seriously pursuing opportunites outside of the WCC, it is very short-sighted, because I feel like the future of the WCC is very bright.
