Well said. It's the reason why, IMO, college coaches don't make good nfl coaches
Their biggest day of the year is LOI day. You can have mindless football, but if you've got the players, you can be great. Nick Saban is example number one. Great college guy, but couldn't coach his way out of a closet in the nfl.

Bobby Bowden is a great example, too. Poorly coached teams, but they always got into the top five. If they would have had some actual coaching, they would have won nc's every year. His coaching tree is short and undistinguished.

Barry Switzerland is another one. His in home visit technique is legendary. He knew what to say, especially to the un-tapped (at the time) black athletes. Yes, he won a sb, but like. Daryl Johnston said in the "America's game" of the 96 cowboys on nfl network, "one of the coaches walked up to me and said...you won, in spite of the coaches."

I do think that they should have used all 15 practices, though.
