I lived with the honor code, really, in a house. ;-)
Interesting topic. I attended BYU. I visited with the Honor Code office twice while a student and with the head of the HCO many, many times while growing up as my father was Dean of Student Life and the honor code office was his direct responsibility. I remember asking him about the many stories from the papers, or what I heard from others and I learned a lot from being a fly on the wall.

There is one truth I learned many years ago. There was never any damage from living the Honor Code, only from breaking the Honor Code, even if it was unintentional or accidental. They tried to help everyone back on the path that they had agreed to in coming to BYU and if they could not agree to get back on the path, then they were encouraged to try a different path.

If we all lived the ideal, no problems. However there are bottom dwelling people and even predators at BYU and you have to have systems in place to deal with those issues. I do know that there is no list of standard punishments rather they try to deal with each situation separately. Not sure it helps but I am pretty sure none of us understand the whole picture of the situation
